Food for thought

Here's sone food for thought: always get an advance on payment before starting a job. The photos posted below are from a shoot I did for a local pub. They were revitalizing their food offerings and needed some photos, and a menu design that would show the dishes at their best. I was brought on to make this happen and everything went great! Everything but the fact that a few weeks after the new menus were produced, the owner closed up shop and proceeded to ignore all my calls and emails. Needless to say I never got full payment on the job. Oh well, I'm still happy with the photos anyway.

Music to my ears

Reading Mike's post on the Somerset Productions blog about the importance of music in film, I started thinking about the odd assortment of music I listen to in my daily life, and the effect it has on my mood.  I don't get much of a chance to listen to anything really, aside from when I'm in the car. Yesterday it was Kanye, Pink Floyd and Hollywood Undead. Today, Beethoven and Chopin.

I always wished I could play the piano actually. I guess I never said anything about that when I was a kid, so I never took lessons.  I never did anything about it once I grew up either. So now, I can't play a thing, but it's really not on my list of priorities, so I probably never will. Oh well, no big deal, I'll just keep on listening instead. That suits me just fine. Anyway, while I'm on the subject of music, here's a piano picture I took.

Kitchens! - North Bay Photography

I just finished cleaning up a few things in the kitchen, and now I'm enjoying the fact that this kitchen actually looks decent. Before we had it redone, it didn't matter how clean it was, it still looked disgusting. Now, it's my favorite room in the house. I haven't had time to take any decent shots of this room since we've had it done, but I have taken quite a few shots of other people's kitchens for use on The Brownstone's website. here are a few of those shots I took. You can see many more here http://thebrownstone.ca/maingallery.html .

Rollin' - North Bay Food Photography

With Fakemas now over, it's time for us to finally say goodbye to the holidays, and the excess that comes with them. I've been eating like a pig for a few weeks (ok, months) now, so with this being the final day of greed before attempting to get sensible again, I thought we should make some yummy curry asparagus rolls for a treat. And of course, I had to take a few pictures. Here's one of them.

It might seem like these rolls are somewhat healthy, but the thing is, they'll be accompanied by a few pints of beer, and a couple helpings of spaghetti. Tomorrow, veggies and water!

Fakemas

My mom is in the area for a few days before going back to the sunshine state, so we're having our Xmas celebration with her (fakemas).

In the spirit of the un-holiday, I'm posting the Christmas card I made this year. This was a fun shoot, with playmobile characters set up all over our dining room table. Happy fakemas everyone!
